Public Sunday Masses are scheduled to begin with the Masses of May 23-24, 2020, if the parish plan submitted by the pastor in accordance with the directives from the diocese is approved by Bishop Brennan.
On Friday, March 13, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 virus, Bishop Brennan suspended all masses in our Diocese and requested the church doors be locked during this epidemic for the physical health and safety of his flock. Admittedly I was stunned, shocked, and for days literally felt like a lost sheep. How, during this special time of Lent, was I going to continue my walk with Christ without being at church, going to Mass, and especially receiving the Eucharist? How were my prayers going to be made without the home distractions? As a cradle catholic I have acquired many icons, statues and pictures. I had them displayed throughout the house, but I had never taken the time to make a special place of prayer in my house. I never took the time to set up a home altar; to set up a place of encouragement for a prayer-centered life: a place for devotion. I did not create a place in my home dedicated to God. It was a simple thing to do. I took a corner of a room and placed a small table, kneeler, and bench. I then placed on the table some blessed catholic icons and a place to lay my prayer intentions. Now, when I pray, participate in the Mass via the Internet, say the Rosary or Stations of the Cross, I go to my home altar. No, it is not church, however, it is my place of honor in my home dedicated to God. I only wish it did not take this epidemic for me to give God a room in my home as he creates a room for me in His (John 14:2). - a Parishioner
In the absence of being able to join together at the OLOF parish hall during the COVID-19 restrictions, we are joining together for Soul Core on Face book LIVE. We have been streaming from my main page - "Anna Hood Kinker" and then the video is shared to "SoulCore - Anna Kinker". The videos are saved on both locations for viewing anytime.
There are a couple of ways to join in. Send a friend request to "Anna Hood Kinker" so that you can join live, or go to "Soul Core-Anna Kinker", like the page, and view the shared/saved video. We have been having daily SoulCore getogethers Monday thrn Friday at 10 AM. I typically post a schedule for the week on Sunday. Looking forward to having you with us!
Until further notice, Our Lady of Fatima Church will be open it's normal hours for private prayer. Fr. Paul will fulfill the published mass intentions with private masses.
