Hats & Scarves Ministry

If you know how to knit or crochet, please help the residents of Branches Domestic Violence Center, Ronald McDonald House, Golden Girls and the Huntington City Mission by knitting or crocheting a scarf for them. A homemade scarf could help keep their necks warm and have something soft to call their own.

We have yarn available through the generosity of an anonymous donation. It is on a table in the vestibule of the Church. Please help yourself! When your project is complete, please put the scarf in a plastic zip bag and label it child, woman and/or man. There is a basket in the vestibule of the Church for prayer shawls, just use the same basket.

Here are our simple patterns:

Child: Cast on 1 1 stitches (on knitting needles size 13, 15 or 17) (or large crochet hook). Knit or crochet until the scarf is 4 feet long. Cast off.

Women: Cast on 15 stitches (on knitting needles size 13, 15 or 17) (or large crochet hook). Knit or crochet until the scarf is 5 feet long. Cast off.

Men: Cast on 18 stitches (on knitting needles size 13, 15 or 17) (or large crochet hook). Knit or crochet until the scarf is 6 feet long. Cast off.

Tip: The larger the needles the looser the finished item. Children's items are better with the smaller size needles. Even an 11 knitting needle would be good
