Type Catholic in the search bar and you will find links to prayers, pod casts, people & things that inspire, images of Mary and the Saints, bible study information, and resources for kids. Each link is tied to a Board of related material. You can choose to follow any that you are interested in. Check out my Catholic Board which can be found at www.pinterest.com/msmauk/catholic/

What does it mean to have a Mass "offered" for someone? As we celebrate Catholic Schools Week, take a minute to check out our Parish School at OLOFPS.ORG and St. Joseph High School at STJOSEPHHS.ORG. These websites include lots of links for students and parents, as well as copies of the school calendars and information for alumni.

On Christmas Day, all churches of our Diocese took up a special collection for Catholic Charities of WV. This agency is the largest private social service provider in the state, serving more than 68,000 people each year with outreach programs and services in rural and populated communities. This week we learned of the recent death of Joanna Roberts, MD, who was a consecrated virgin in the Diocese. Do you know what it means to be a consecrated virgin? iBreviary.com provides you with an electronic breviary, the book used to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. It uses the same translations for the psalms and prayers as a paper breviary. It also provides the Mass readings of the day, a short saint biography on feast days and TONS of prayers and blessings. It's available for nearly every device out there, and it also has a WEB INTERFACE that can be accessed from anything with a browser.

As we approach the Advent season, spend some time reflecting on your -last days.

In today's world, environmental protection is a controversial and divisive topic, but that's all the more reason to see what the church has to say. Thanks to a priest, a deacon, and a nun, there is an easy way to do that. With the national elections being held this week, we have constantly been confronted with discussion about Social Issues. What does our Church teach us about social issues? The USCCB addresses these questions on their website under the topic of "What We Believe." CatholicDaughtersDid you notice the ladies in purple and blue robes at the 10:45 Mass last Sunday? They are members of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The CDA is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women in the Americas. They donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive "to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness." Check out their website at www.catholicdaughters.org. FudgeDid you know that The Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani is a monastery near Bardstown, KY and the final resting place of Thomas Merton, author of The Seven Storey Mountain? This is a Trappist Abbey that follows the rule of St. Benedict and prays the seven hours of the "Liturgy of the Hours" daily. You can learn about the monks and view the beautiful grounds at their website, www.monks.org. The monks support themselves through their Gift Shop found online at www.gethsemanifarms.org. Visitors to the Abbey and on-site Gift Shop are encouraged. Retreats are offered throughout the year for guests.

Our parish uses the Parish Soft database for tracking contact information for our parishioners. It is great when we can attach photos to help us identify families. You could help us out by sending us a digital picture of your family to the Parish Office at church@olofatima.org. If you would rather drop off a printed photo, send it to the Parish Office and we will digitize it. Thanks for helping us out!
